Random Thoughts on Vacation Prep, Unforeseen Delays and Car Snacks
I have been trying to leave on vacation for 3 days. There are legit reasons why we’ve had to postpone departure, none of which involve me. But all of which affect me.
June 28th and July 1st seem weeks apart.
We’ve already eaten the car snacks and the chicken salad I made for the lunch sammies.
We also ate the meal I’d made for our arrival and I had to unfreeze the milk for our coffee this morning. (I always pack a frozen quart of milk for coffee the first morning.) I hope we don’t starve when we get there.
Back to the store again one last time before leaving.
The house sitter may be tired of me texting, “We’re leaving tomorrow.”
But the mail hold is happening and my email vacation response is on. Surely, those two signs I must be on vacation, right?
It’s hard to leave green tomatoes on the vine.
It’s harder to leave a grandchild than a tomato plant.
Yes, the puppy is coming with us. No, he is not the reason for the delay.
Now our entire driving plan is centered around watching the US v. Bosnia-Herzegovina game tomorrow.
Nothing is better than clean sheets on the bed when you return.
So, I’ll have to change the sheets again.
Safe travels. Have a Happy and Safe Fourth,

We are heading “Up North”
to the cabin like many Minnesotans. My daughter is bringing 5 girlfriends from Chicago. Sleep may be a challenge. We bought kayaks yesterday and will enjoy testing them out! Can’t wait to “relax?”
Oh…. And we are going to Coronado for the 250th day!
There will a big parade as it’s a Navy town!
