I too moved to California over 35 years ago, from the muggy, air conditioned Midwest. Summers in LA thoroughly confused me, June gloom thoroughly depressed me. Until one summer I just embraced the cool air and welcomed foggy mornings. I now own this weather and my summer trips to the Midwest remain “magic”, as you so well say here!

There’s nothing like reading a good book outdoors while trying to ignore the pool of boob sweat accumulation and swatting away mosquitoes. That’s the Summer vibes here in Michigan. Peak 80’s summer memory was similar but throw in a lot of “Sun in” turning my hair orange 🤣🙈
