You nailed it -- Seventeen Magazine is 100% to blame. Too hot! I also remember when we had to put on parkas over our Halloween costumes to go trick or treating -- sigh...
So funny that you brought up Seventeen Magazine. I saw the memory of August 1976 Seventeen Magazine posted on FB. I am sure I had that copy. I was 16 and living in Plano, Texas. It was always so hard because I did feel like I wanted to wear the plaids and boots that the cover models wore on my first day of school. It was always a challenge to wear the more subdued fall colors with a shorter sleeve and cooler fabrics.
Every year I feel like we push fall further into summer. I’ll be sitting on the ebb each as long as possible enjoying all the summer things. I have so much basil and tomatoes still for Caprese salad!
Love that you brought up back to school fashion. Through the 60s and 70s, I wore wool skirts and long sleeve turtlenecks back to school in 80+ degree weather in Michigan. Now I think it was crazy.
I can’t believe you brought up the winter outfits for back to school—so funny! Glad to know it wasn’t just me. I’m having a hot flash just thinking about it. 😂🥵
